Curragh fashion for Classic Race Days

What to Wear At The Races

There’s nothing like a race day to let your style shine and for you to enjoy the chance to dress up. The best thing about Racing Fashion is … there really are NO RULES! Well a few simple ones …… NO Sportswear, Collarless Shirts or items that may cause offence to others. You do not need to wear hats, ties or morning suits. Most Irish Racecourses don’t have a strict dress code but they all encourage clients to dress smartly.

One very important thing, and the one most overlooked, is to dress for the WEATHER. We cannot predict the rapid changes in temperture or whether it may rain or not but we can suggest that you allow for this and most importantly dress how you feel most comfortable. Racing is a long day out and you need to feel relaxed and enjoy the occasion, so in conclusion. Wear what suits you best and what you feel most comfortable in. Wear what is most appropriate for the area you are going to spend the day in, hospitality guests do tend to dress up more than those with tickets only, and finally dress to make allowances for the weather. Smart casual always works for everyone .

For The Ladies

Dress accordingly for the occasion and the weather, you are not going to a wedding or a night club, Don’t have your skirt too short, heels you can’t walk in and too much flesh on display – leave a little to the imagination and Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. Below are some ideas on how to stand out.
Solid Colours Loud and proud colour combinations make for a dynamic, confident look. Feel free to mix it up with another color or be bold and stay true to your chosen colour from head to toe! Accent with accessories of course!!
Modern Prints This is a fun trend to go with no matter what the occasion. Mixing up abstracts with colors can create a bold fun look that will have heads turning everywhere you walk. Pair a print skirt with a solid top, or go big and mix two prints together! These types of prints can give you free reign in your millinery choice.
Monochrome Play with separates or prints to get the monochrome trend. A little black dress with bold accessories is so classy. Want to try something different? Try a monochrome jumpsuit! Pair with a bold red lip and small clutch and you look like you are ready for the Red Carpet!
Accessories Accessorizing is a must and it’s a great way to bring your personality in to your outfit from shoes to hats to bags. One good tip to remember is that your accessories don’t have to be big and flamboyant sometimes less is more. Really it’s all about complementing the outfit.
